Equipment

  • 52 Card Deck
  • A drink each
  • A table

Setup

Get all players around the table with a filled drink ready to play. The group must then decide who will be the Game Master who will also be the rule maker (not participating in the playing of cards). The Game Master starts by dealing all but 4 cards out evenly to the players, keeping 4 for themself to create a specific formation with to kick off the game.

Aim of the Game

Get rid of all your cards to win the game by placing them on the table in the correct position.

How to Play

At the start of the game the Game Master invents a secret rule for how cards must be placed, it will be a specific order, face up, side by side on the table for everyone to see but not to understand just yet.

Secret Rule example - Each card played must be higher than the last, unless the last card was a face card, in which case any card may be played.

Once the Game Master is happy for the game to start, they can pick a player to begin. This player must then place a card to the left, right, above or below the row of cards in attempt to guess the rules and play a correct card.

If a player places a card down correctly based on the secret rule, the Game Master confirms this and the card remains on the table. The next player can then take their turn.

If a player places an incorrect card down which does not meet the rules, the Game Master issues that player with 1 sip. The player then must take back their card from the centre.

The game continues clockwise around the circle until a player gets rid of all of their cards, or no player can make a valid move.

Rules

  • Players cards aren’t required to be kept a secret
  • Each player takes their turn one at a time
  • Cards can be placed in a 2D form, left to right as well as above and below
  • If a player cannot place the correct card, they must take a sip

Special Edition

Game Master in play

In this version, the game master also gets a deck of cards, to play as they wish. On their turn, they can place the card down to hint at the rule or take a sip without placing a card down to make it harder for the others.
