Ingredients

  • Coffee liqueur - 25ml
  • Vodka - 25ml
  • Espresso coffee - 25ml
  • Ice - 1 handful
  • Simple syrup (demerara) - 15ml

Recipe

  1. Mix equal parts caster sugar and boiling water in a pan, stir and bring to the boil.
  2. Turn the heat off and let the mixture cool.
  3. Add a handful of ice, 1 part vodka, 1 part coffee liqueur, 1 part espresso coffee and a teaspoon of cooled sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker.
  4. Shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels icy cold.
  5. Pour evenly into the chilled glasses and garnish with coffee beans.

Tips

  • Place glasses in the fridge before preparing the drink.
  • When adding all of the ingredients in the shaker, pour the coffee in last to reduce the ice from melting as quickly.
  • Replace espresso coffee with cream to create a white russian.
